Current practice
Peter Rowe specialises in the area of funds management. He has also practised extensively in securitisation and charity law. Peter has worked for over 30 years in funds management both as a client, a partner of Freehills and now as a consultant of Freehills. His practical experience in the management and administration of trusts, in addition to his wide experience as a lawyer in the funds management and securitisation fields, is unique.
According to PLC Which Lawyer, Peter is one of Australia’s leading advisers in the area of funds management and they have given him the highest ranking in this area. Peter was also nominated for the 2011Justice Medal awarded by the NSW Law and Justice Foundation.
Experience
Since joining Freehills Peter has been active on behalf of fund managers in the establishment and administration of a wide range of retail and wholesale investment vehicles both in Australia and offshore. He has been involved in the IPO of a number of trusts as well as in the takeover and merger of trusts and fund managers. His clients include domestic and offshore fund managers. Peter has also been active in other areas of the financial services sector including banking.
Professional background
Peter was the head of the Firm’s Financial Services Group and has been responsible for a number of important client relationships. Peter is, amongst other roles, deputy Chairman of the Freehills Foundation. He is currently a director of Investa Listed Funds Management Limited and also sits on its Audit and Compliance Committee, an external member of the Lend Lease Real Estate Investments Limited audit and risk management committee, a member of the AMP Capital Investors Limited compliance committee and a director of the Centre for Volunteering, Mission Australia Housing Limited and Mission Australia Housing (Victoria) Limited.
Peter has lectured on many occasions on matters affecting securitisation and unit trusts in Australia and overseas and has been consulted by regulators in Australia and offshore on funds management issues.
